Country girl

Ever since I can remember I have loved music.
I have always listened to it while in the car, in the shower, in my room, etc.
The type of music I've liked has evolved along with the years, but the idea of music being a part of my life remains exactly the same.
When listening to a song for the first time, most people - I think - will continue listening to it depending on its beat, whether they like it or not.
I, on the other hand, will ALWAYS listen to its lyrics, no matter what the beat sounds like. This is probably the reason why I like sooo many songs people absolutely hate!
This, at the same time, annoys the hell out of me when I see people dancing to music they don't even understand, with the craziest and rudest lyrics ever, e.g., reggaeton. I mean, it's cool for a little while, a few hours maybe, to go dancing and all, but after that... how do u sit in your car and listen to it just because? I guess some people just like songs that talk about nothing but sex and nonsense. I pass.

Anyway... This passion I have for lyrics is what brings me to this entry's title: Country Music.
What's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear 'country music'? Rednecks? Probably.
Guitars, fiddles, some yeehaws every now and then? True. Trailers? Yup, that too. Cowboys? Exactly! :)
But the truth is country music is more than just some rednecks dancing and singing along to the beat of a guitar and a fiddle. It's more than just cowboy hats and boots. Country music is passion at its best. Country music has probably THE BEST lyrics in the history of music.
Of course, there will always be an exception to every rule, but for the most part, country songs are filled with super intense feelings, the kind of feelings that give you goosebumps...
Country music has the power to take you back in time and relive all those things you thought you had left behind as your heart beats faster and faster with every word...
Country music is the kind that you can listen to while sitting on a quiet lonely beach and feeling you're in good company. The kind that makes every heartache hurt more and more, that makes every tear seem heavier, and every little moment of happiness the happiest you've ever had.
Oh, and I could talk about it for hours and hours without getting tired... But I'll just sum it all up by saying I love it!

People don't seem to understand why I like it so much if country music is "for white people". Well, I'm not white. I'm anything BUT white, yet I love it!
I've always loved it! I've always loved the countryside, I've always liked the country lifestyle...
I know this very wise man who once told me "That's cuz you're a country girl, just from a different country", and I am, I know I am :)
And I know one day I'll find my own cowboy who'll take me away and who'll sing to me sitting on the bed of his truck; a cowboy who will take me for a ride on his big green tractor, or whom I'll get to save when he's a firecracker coming undone; someone who'll say 'Good morning beautiful' when we live where the green grass grows, our own special place where ladies love country boys.

If not, I'll always have country music ;)
